Music is thriving at Nassington School. We work in close partnership with our education partners, NMPAT (Northamptonshire Music & Performing Arts Trust) to provide quality musical experiences.

We currently offer Violin and Cello lessons on Thursday for children in Year 2 and above and Brass lessons on Wednesdays for children in Year 3 and above.

We are the lead school in a cluster music initiative called the Oundle and Thrapston Cluster Orchestra. The orchestra meets once a term and holds a concert in June at St Peter's Church in Oundle. Children from all 9 primary schools in the cluster participate and there are usually around 120 players from Years 2-6. Our Music Co-ordinator, Mrs Little directs the orchestra, selects the repertoire and liaises with the other schools.

Our KS2 choir meets on a Thursday lunchtime and is directed by Mrs Little. Anyone is welcome but should be committed to attend each week.

Our KS2 Choir performed as part of the Schools' Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in November 2017 in association with or music education partners, NMPAT.

All children participate in a weekly singing assembly and every child participates in our two annual musical concerts - our final Christmas assembly and our Summer Music Concert.

On occasion, children have the opportunity to engage with outside performances and last year KS2 attended the BBC Ten Pieces concert at The Derngate. Rowan class engaged with NMPAT in a Samba Drumming course.

We have also worked closely with local composer, Paul Roger to develop some original songs about the history of the village to create a CD.
